No. Titles, meta, and alt text work over WordPress's own REST API with just an Application Password. The connector plugin is only needed to reach SEO-plugin-owned fields (Yoast keeps its own meta protected from core REST) and to publish JSON-LD schema.
We test your install first and tell you what will and won't take effect — a stock WordPress site with no SEO plugin has never rendered a meta description, so a write there lands in the database but shows nowhere. That's a real distinction we check, not something you find out after the fact.
